Major League Baseball is in full swing and almost to the halfway point—the All Star Game is being held in Phoenix, Arizona in about 2 weeks. So, while the Braves will be out for a few days some of you just might need to feel that void that will be missing. Well, I have a solution for you and they’re called the Brookhaven Bucks.
The Bucks are a summer league baseball team that plays in the Sunbelt Summer League. Like when the Big Leaguers go play Winter Ball in the Dominican League or in Mexico, many college underclassmen do the same thing. They have to stay sharp somehow!
The Brookhaven Bucks consist of college players from all over Georgia, but mostly Georgia State, North Georgia and there’s one from Oglethorpe. And speaking of Oglethorpe, that’s exactly where the Bucks call home during their brief season—Hermance Stadium.
Since the stadium is literally a few miles down the road, you should stop by and take in a game. The tickets are just $5 and you’ll see some good hard-nosed baseball played. Hurry because their last regular season game is July 26th.
